Albuquerque Cooking Classes That Build Community Through Bread and Fire
Share
This spring, we wrapped up our final flatbread class of the season here at Sherwood Coffee 'n' Bread, and I’ve been reflecting on what made it so special not just as a class, but as part of a growing community.
Of all the classes we offer in our Albuquerque cooking school, the flatbread class is the most personal to me. Every time I bake Uzbek Lepeshka in the wood-fired oven, I’m transported to my childhood in Uzbekistan. Back then, this round, golden bread was a daily part of life - warm, nourishing, and always shared.
Now, here in New Mexico, I get to pass on that tradition through our hands-on bread baking classes. Watching someone shape their first loaf, then pull it from the oven steaming and golden, is a moment that never gets old. It's more than just learning a recipe, it’s experiencing the joy of real, fresh bread made from scratch.
A Bread Baking Class That Builds Community

Every weekend, our bread classes in Albuquerque welcome a new mix of people. Young bakers, retired professionals, traveling foodies, locals looking for something new to try, we see it all. And every time, something magical happens.
Through the process of mixing, shaping, and baking dough, people open up. They share stories. They laugh. They connect. What begins as a simple cooking class often turns into something deeper.
One student recently said:
“I came for the bread… but I left with new friends.”
And that’s when it clicked, this isn’t just a class. It’s the heart of a community cooking school, one that brings people together through flavor, fire, and shared experience.
A Season Worth Remembering

I’m deeply grateful to everyone who joined us during our Spring 2025 bread classes. You brought energy, enthusiasm, and a love of learning that made each session feel like a gathering of old friends.
Thank you for giving me the chance to share a piece of my heritage and for making this dream of a small, local cooking school in Albuquerque feel so real.
Looking Ahead to Fall 2025

While our Spring season has come to a close, we’re already planning for Fall 2025 cooking classes. If you missed our flatbread class, don’t worry, it’s coming back, along with other favorites like wood-fired pizza, French baguettes, and sourdough.
We’re growing too. As we continue building Sherwood Coffee 'n' Bread, we’re also laying the foundation for a future cooking school in New Mexico a place where people of all ages can come together, learn, and cook with heart.
